Update: 02/09/24: The Tata Curvv ICE has been launched. Its prices start from Rs 10 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom).
The Citroen Basalt has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), before the prices for the Tata Curvv (ICE), which are set to be revealed on September 2, 2024. Both these vehicles are SUV-coupes, which sit in the compact SUV segment in the Indian autospace, and their respective technical specifications have now been revealed. In this article, we jot down 10 comfort, convenience and safety features that the Tata Curvv gets over the Citroen Basalt.
The Citroen Basalt gets the same 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system as found in its other siblings like the C3 Aircross. The Tata Curvv’s centre stage on the other hand is taken by a larger 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen giving it a much premium appeal.
Similar to the infotainment system, the Tata Curvv gets a larger 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, as opposed to a smaller 7-inch unit in the Citroen Basalt.
The Tata Curvv’s premium quotient is further elevated as it gets a 9-speaker premium JBL surround sound system, while the Citroen Basalt gets a regular 4-speaker and 4-tweeter setup.
A feature which is highly desired in the Indian market, the sunroof, is a miss in the Citroen Basalt. The Tata Curvv on the other hand features a large panoramic sunroof allowing more light into the cabin.
The Tata Curvv gets seat ventilation for the front occupants as found in other premium Tata cars like the Harrier and Safari. The Citroen Basalt unfortunately misses out on this comfort nicety as well.
The Tata Curvv gets a 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, while the Citroen Basalt gets a manually operated lever to configure the desired seating position.
Another convenience feature which adds to the value proposition of the Tata Curvv, is the powered tailgate with gesture control. The Citroen Curvv misses out on this and rather gets a conventional electric boot release.
The Tata Curvv’s safety tech is amplified by the 360 degree surround view camera with front and rear parking sensors. The Citroen Basalt misses out on a 360 degree setup, but it does get a rear view camera.
The Tata Curvv gets Level-2 ADAS (Autonomous Driver’s Assistance System) features like blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, emergency braking, collision avoidance and adaptive cruise control. The Citroen Basalt unfortunately misses out on ADAS tech.
Another feature which just adds to the premium appeal of the Tata Curvv is the ambient lighting feature in the interior. Unfortunately, the Citroen Basalt misses out on this feature as well.
With such comfort, convenience and safety features over the Citroen Basalt, what do you think the Tata Curvv will be priced at? We reckon prices for the Tata SUV-coupe could start from around the Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom) mark, which is significantly more than the Basalt’s introductory starting price.
