It’s not common for a two-wheeler brand to hit the 100-million-units-sales landmark. But Hero MotoCorp did it, and how! They celebrated the feat with a bang, doing a live feed from its Gurugram facility. Pawan Munjal, Chairman & CEO, Hero MotoCorp, hosted the event with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan accompanying him on stage.
The company has achieved this sales landmark in just 37 years. The 100 millionth Hero two-wheeler was the Xtreme 160R that rolled out of the assembly line at its Haridwar plant. What makes it more special is that the last 50 million units were produced in just eight years, and that includes the phase when the COVID-19 pandemic affected production. Hero also holds the distinction of being the world's largest two-wheeler brand for the past 20 years. Also Read: Breaking: You Will Soon Be Able To Buy A Harley From A Hero Dealership
To commemorate this special occasion, Hero has introduced six celebration-edition models of the Splendor+, Xtreme 160R, Passion Pro, Glamour, Destini 125, and the Maestro Edge 110. From what we could see at the unveiling, the celebration-edition models get a special colour scheme and badges, but not any mechanical change. These will go on sale from February 2021. Hero further confirmed it would be introducing 10 products (including variants, refreshes, and upgrades) every year, for the next five years. The brand also has plans to enter the premium-motorcycle segment. We had seen a glimpse of the upcoming Hero 300cc ADV bike at its CIT facility in early-2020. As for what plans Hero has for 2021, head here.
