Honda has posted a teaser video of its upcoming scooter on its social media channels and all indications lead to it being the BS6 avatar of the discontinued Grazia. While there is a slight possibility of Honda renaming the scooter as they did with the Shine SP (which was renamed SP 125), we believe it could stick with the more familiar Grazia name. Here’s what you can expect from the upcoming Grazia BS6:
Gets new bodywork:
One clear takeaway from the 20-second teaser video is that the scooter gets a new, sportier bodywork. The apron and tail section has been redesigned and feels sportier than before. While the headlamp retains the familiar shape, it has a slimmer profile. The headlamp cowl appears to be similar to that on the TVS NTorq 125 and the Honda now gets twin LED DRLs as well.
Gets a revised instrument console:
While the outer shape remains similar, the layout has change and the instrument console now gets full blue backlighting. The Grazia was the first 125cc scooter to have a tachometer. While we feel it isn't a useful feature on a scooter, the side stand indicator, 3-step Eco Speed Indicator and the range indicator are welcome additions. As before, the headlamp continues to feature LED lighting. The Grazia BS6 could get an external fuel filler cap like the Honda Activa 125 BS6.
Will share motor with Activa 125:
The Grazia BS6 will share its 125cc motor with Honda’s other 125cc scooter, the Activa 125 BS6. This all-new 125cc fuel-injected engine delivers 8.29PS at 6500rpm and 10.3Nm at 5000rpm. We have sampled the new motor on the Activa 125 (read our Activa 125 road test review here) and were impressed with its refinement but not so much with its performance.
Will get an ACG starter generator:
Like all other Honda BS6 scooters, the Grazia BS6 will get an ACG starter generator. This starting system ensures a silent starting operation as the starter generator is directly connected to the crankshaft. This impressive tech can also be seen on Yamaha’s new 125cc BS6 scooters.
Underpinnings remain unchanged:
The Grazia BS6 continues to use a telescopic front fork and a monoshock at the rear. It gets 12-inch front/10-inch rear alloy wheels and a front disc/rear drum brake setup. Like other 125cc scooters, it will use CBS as well.
Pricing:
While Honda didn’t have a sporty 125cc scooter in its lineup before, that will change with the Grazia BS6. We expect the new Grazia BS6 to be priced around Rs 8,000 more than the BS4-compliant Grazia that cost around Rs 62,000 (ex-showroom). With a price tag hovering around Rs 70,000, the Honda Grazia BS6 could compete against other sporty 125cc scooters like the Aprilia SR 125, Suzuki Burgman Street, TVS NTorq 125 and Yamaha Ray ZR 125.
