Earlier this year Kawasaki “launched” the 2020 Ninja 650 in the Indian market. In reality, the bike wasn’t officially launched, with the Japanese brand announcing that the BS6 Kawasaki Ninja 650 will be priced between Rs 6.45 lakh and Rs 6.75 lakh (ex-showroom India). With the COVID-19 lockdown across the country, it seems that the launch has been delayed but a Mumbai based dealer has announced that the 2020 Ninja 650 will be launched soon. Although there’s no definite timeline, we think the new bike will go on sale in May 2020. As for the price, the Ninja 650 BS6 is likely to be priced around Rs 6.50 lakh, a premium of around Rs 60,000 over the BS4 model.
While the price hike looks steep, one has to factor in that the 2020 Ninja 650 gets a comprehensive update. The new bike takes styling inspiration from the Kawasaki Ninja 400 with twin LED headlights and new fairing design that makes it look sportier than before. On the features front, the new bike gets a 4.3-inch full-colour TFT dash with Bluetooth connectivity and GPS functionality, something that will really come handy while touring.

Beneath the fairing is the familiar 650cc parallel-twin motor producing 68PS and` 65.7Nm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. It will be interesting to see whether Kawasaki is able to match the power output of the older bike after meeting BS6 emission norms. You can read more details about the 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 here.
