For most, the ideal companion for an adventure would be a sub-400cc trail bike or a 400-700cc proper adventure tourer and not a pimped out maxi-scooter. But that’s what Honda offered with the X-ADV and to their luck, it proved to be quite a popular product in the European and American markets. For 2021, Honda has upped the game slightly, giving it few styling tweaks, more power and even better foundations.
The heart remains the same 745cc parallel-twin engine. This motor has received its EU5 updates and instead of it losing steam, Honda has managed to up the performance with the engine now pushing out 58.6PS and 69Nm. That is a gain of almost 4PS over the old engine. Revised gear ratios on the 6-speed DCT allow the X-ADV to stretch its legs further on the highway, consuming lesser fuel in the process. Honda’s electronic rider aid suite for the scooter might not be vast but rider modes and traction control have been calibrated for a more seamless riding experience.
Honda has also slimmed down the proportions of the X-ADV, giving it a meaner and aggressive stance. The new LED headlights add to the aggression. Underneath the sharp clothing is a new tubular steel diamond frame. Honda claims to have saved weight as well as made the frame more rigid, allowing for more underseat storage space to be present.
Sadly, the Honda X-ADV will remain out of reach for Indian enthusiasts as there is very little demand for a large capacity maxi-scooter, especially one such as this. Honda will be bringing the new Forza 350 to our shores, though. That should give us some indication of whether or not the Indian buyer will take to the format. Head here to know all about the India-bound scooter.
