[UPDATE: KTM has launched the new RC 200 and RC 125 in India, with prices starting from Rs 1.82 lakh. For full details, check out our launch story.]
The 2021 iterations of the KTM RC 125 and RC 200 are coming to India by the end of October itself, according to our sources. But there could be a slight delay for the flagship 2022 RC 390, which is expected to arrive early next year.
The new KTM RC 125 and RC 200 have been overhauled, right from their design to the features. Starting with the styling, the bikes now have a new fascia with an all-LED headlamp and sleek LED DRL-cum-indicators. Additionally, the fairings are new to deflect air better, and the tail section has been honed.
Now to the features, where both bikes see important updates. The common links between them are Supermoto ABS (switchable ABS), new instrument clusters, more premium WP Apex suspension, and a height-adjustable (can be lowered by 10mm) clip-on handlebar.
Speaking of instrument clusters, the RC 125 is likely to get a more premium TFT unit with smartphone connectivity from the 390 Duke, while the RC 200 will feature a colour LCD without connectivity features, similar to the 250 Adventure.
Other notable updates include a new bolt-on subframe, lighter alloys, and lighter disc brakes, among other things. For full details, head to our story.
In its 2021 avatar, the KTM RC 125 will produce 14.5PS and 12Nm from its 125cc engine, as revealed in the recently leaked type-approval documents. The RC 200 will make 25.8PS and 19.5Nm from the same 200cc motor. While the power is more or less identical, KTM claims the bikes now run a 40 percent bigger airbox and a new engine mapping, which should make the throttle response crisper. And finally, the RCs get a 13.5-litre fuel tank, a significant upgrade from the previous puny 9.5-litre unit.
All these updates will obviously result in a price hike. We expect the 2021 KTM RC 125 and RC 200 to retail at Rs 1.85 lakh and Rs 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
