The SUV has been unveiled in Indonesia and is expected to reach India in 2022

The wraps are off the facelifted Hyundai Creta at the 2021 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). This is a midlife update for the popular compact SUV, and it is expected to come to India in 2022.

In this pictorial report, we’ll explore the facelifted model’s design changes, new features, and powertrains through these 10 detailed images. Do let us know what you think in the comments section below. That out of the way, let’s get started.

Up front, the facelifted SUV gets a Tucson-like front grille with integrated DRLs and recessed LED headlights. Even the bumper has been redesigned, and we must say that the model looks less polarising now.

The side profile, however, is the same as the pre-facelift Creta. We reckon Hyundai could’ve used a new set of alloy wheels.

At the rear, the slightly redesigned tail lamps (with LED bars extending to the tailgate) constitute the only change.

Inside, the facelifted SUV retains the same dashboard layout as before, but in two new colour schemes: all-black and black/brown. Like the Alcazar, the Creta also gets gloss black inserts in the centre console and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.

This brings us to the Creta’s feature list, which includes a panoramic sunroof, a Bose sound system, drive and traction modes, automatic climate control, and keyless entry with push-button start. The SUV also gets select Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including forward, rear, and blindspot collision avoidance assist.

Other safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors with a camera, and electronic stability control.

Indonesian customers, unfortunately, get only one powertrain, the 115PS 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, paired with a 6-speed manual and an optional CVT. In India, the SUV should be powered by 140PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 115PS 1.5-litre diesel engines. The 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) could be offered with the 1.5-litre petrol engine.

The facelifted compact SUV is expected to launch here in 2022 and renew its rivalry with the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor, and select variants of the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Harrier, and MG Hector. Prices will likely start from around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
