How Many Auto Expos Do We Have Left?

The 2023 Auto Expo, India’s largest motor show, is set to take place at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida between January 13 and 18, 2023. As we inch closer to the start of the event, we have a fair idea of the list of car manufacturers who would take part and those who could give it a pass, as detailed in the table below:

Things seem slightly grim for the upcoming edition as most OEMs who have footing in the country might elect to skip it. And it’s not just the cars, as reports suggest that major bike manufacturers might also not have their stalls set up in this edition of the expo.
Clearly, this early sign is proof that motor shows are slowly dying. The reason for this is mainly due to the heavy financial implications such shows bring upon carmakers and the less footfall which does not help recuperate that cost.
Also, the after-effects of the turmoil created globally by the COVID-19 pandemic could also be a reason. For example, the Geneva Motor Show had to be cancelled a couple of times and the next event might take place in 2023.
Nevertheless, we hope the latest edition of the Auto Expo turns out to be a success and we Indian motorheads would definitely love to see more and larger auto expos in the future. We’ll be bringing you all the live action of the proceedings from the floor on the media days (January 11 and 12), so stay tuned.
