The production-spec Hyundai Exter SUV has been revealed in images ahead of its global unveiling. Pre-launch bookings are underway and we suspect its reveal should be just right around the corner. The Exter will come in 8 trims and a choice of 3 powertrain options. And we have detailed the variant-wise powertrain options ahead of its launch in the table below:

As you can see, the petrol-manual powertrain is offered across the board. However, the AMT’s entry-level trim is the third-from-base S trim and is offered in a total of five variants. And as for the CNG model, it can be had only in mid-spec variants, which is a slight disadvantage as competitors, especially Tata, offer fully loaded CNG models.
The Hyundai Exter features a boxy silhouette with plenty of funky design touches. Its rectangular design theme gives the SUV plenty of muscle. To take a closer look at how the production-spec model looks, check out this report where the SUV was spotted in the wild without any camouflage.
In India, the Exter will be powered by the Grand i10 Nios’ 83PS 1.2-litre petrol engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. And when you opt for the CNG kit, the power figure drops to 69PS and it will be offered with a manual ‘box only.

We suspect the Hyundai Exter to be priced around the Rs 6 lakh mark (ex-showroom). It will lock horns with the Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Citroen C3 as well as Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
