Hyundai India has launched the 2023 i20 facelift on our shores, whose prices start from Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are open and the hatchback now has a total of five broad trims. It also gets styling revisions, a feature rejig and loses out on one powertrain option. In this report, we’ll be looking at what all has changed in the i20 in our old vs new report.
To make the i20 more accessible, Hyundai has introduced a new entry-level Era trim, which brings the starting price down by Rs 47,000. However, the rest of the variant lineup is now dearer by up to Rs 27,000. You can check out the variant-wise prices of the new i20 in this table below:

Most of the changes for the facelifted i20’s design are at the front, where it gets a Verna-like cascading grille, flanked by a revised pair of LED headlights. The bumpers are also new and feature muscular airdams. That said, the outgoing model also had a sharp looking grille with the Hyundai logo placed in it.

Absolutely no changes have been made to the profile of the i20, except for the 16-inch alloy wheels. However, you do get one new colour – Amazon Grey – which is sold alongside existing hues such as Atlas White, Titan Gray, Typhoon Silver, Starry Night, and Fiery Red. You can also opt for a black roof with the white and red hue.
Bring the magnifying glass to spot updates at the rear as they are limited to a mildly revised bumper, which gets a skid plate for added muscle. The sharply styled LED tail lamps with the Z-shaped insignia have been carried forward.
The overall dashboard layout of the facelifted i20 is the same as before, but the new one gets a black/grey dual-tone colour scheme as opposed to the all-black hue. It also gets a USB Type-C phone charger to keep up with the times.
The i20 now gets more safety kit as standard such as six airbags, electronic stability control, parking sensors, and hill start assist.
Bits such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a digital driver’s display, sunroof, wireless phone charger, keyless entry with push-button start, and cruise control have been retained.
Beneath the hood, the i20 now exclusively features the 1.2-litre petrol engine, available in combination with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT. The 120PS 1-litre turbo-petrol engine is no longer part of the standard car's lineup, but we anticipate its availability with the upcoming facelifted Hyundai i20 N Line.
All of these minor updates now give the third-generation Hyundai i20, which has been on sale since 2020, a breath of fresh air. It will continue to rival the Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and Toyota Glanza.
