With this update, the starring price of the Tata Safari has now become steeper by Rs 35,000. The full price list is yet to be divulged and the table above shows the starting price point for each of the manual variants. Prices for the automatic and Dark variants start from Rs 20.69 lakh (ex-showroom).
While the styling changes are significant, the Safari is still immediately recognisable. The inspiration behind the connected LED DRLs and the split headlight housing is evidently drawn from the Curvv concept. The grille has been redesigned and features colour-coded accents, adding character to the SUV’s design.

It sits on new, massive 19-inch wheels, and also sports ‘Safari’ badging on the front doors. Changes at the rear include the connected LED taillights and a modified bumper with cladding.
Changes are plenty here as well. For starters, you now get a four-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated Tata logo. Other highlights include the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and below it is the touch-sensitive system for the HVAC controls with two physical toggle switches as well.
Even the central tunnel has been reworked with a Land Rover-style gear lever for the automatic versions and a chic-looking drive mode selector with a display in it. There are new themes on offer as well, which depend on the persona (variant) selected. The revisions go on with the new 10.25-inch digital driver’s display completing the round of updates on the inside.
Apart from the aforementioned screens, Tata has given the Safari additional features like a knee airbag (for a total of 7), a powered tailgate with gesture-based opening, an updated 10-speaker JBL sound system, and rear sunshades. These have been added over the existing kit, which includes ventilated front and second-row seats (6-seater), connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, and keyless entry with push-button start.
Its safety kit includes up to 7 airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, and an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) package. However, the latter’s functionality has now been improved as it also gets Adaptive Cruise Control. The Lane Keep Assist feature will be added later via a software update.
Despite the numerous speculations, the Safari facelift doesn’t get a petrol powertrain. It retains the 170PS 2-litre diesel engine from the outgoing model, which can be paired to either a 6-speed MT or AT. The 6-speed MT returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.14kmpl, while the 6-speed AT returns 14.08kmpl. It continues to be a front-wheel-drive SUV.
With such a comprehensive update, the facelifted Tata Safari gives a tougher fight to the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, and Mahindra XUV700.
