When it comes to the 200cc naked bikes, the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and the KTM Duke 200 lead the segment with their impressive performance. Popular among youngsters, both these bikes offer a mix of thrilling power and stylish looks. Let's take a look at how these bikes compare against each other:
Both the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and KTM Duke 200 look sporty. The Pulsar NS200 has a muscular design - like a Boxer, while the Duke 200 looks sharper looks and more athletic - like a sprinter.
The Bajaj Pulsar NS200’s design has not changed since it was launched, however, it has received a few smaller updates like an inverted fork, an updated LED headlight and a fully digital console with smartphone connectivity too. Bajaj Auto offers 2024 Pulsar NS200 in three colours: Brooklyn Black, Pearl Metallic White and Racing Red.As the bigger Dukes 250 and 390 receive updates, their designs are passed onto the smaller Dukes 125 and 200. In 2020, KTM updated Duke 200 with the Duke 250’s design and recently the Duke 200 received the LED headlights from the Duke 250, making it sportier and sharper than ever. The Duke 200 comes in two colours: Electronic Orange and Dark Silver Metallic.
Both the bikes deliver similar power and torque outputs, and lead the 200cc segment with their impressive performance.
The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 gets a 199.5cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine derived from the Duke 200. It makes a peak output of 24.5PS and 18.74Nm, coupled with a six-speed gearbox. It comes with a 13.4-litre fuel tank and delivers a real-world tested mileage of around 40kmpl.
The KTM Duke 200 is powered by a 199.5cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 25PS and 19.3Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The Duke 200 provides a mileage of around 34kmpl and has a 12-litre fuel tank capacity.
The Pulsar NS200 is built on a perimeter frame. It comes equipped with an inverted fork and preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. It gets a 300mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS as standard. The Pulsar NS200 has 17-inch wheels, which are fitted with 100-section front and 130-section rear tyres. It has a 158kg kerb weight and a ground clearance of 168mm.
Built on a split-trellis frame, the Duke 200 gets a 43mm diameter inverted fork and a 10-step preload adjustable WP Apex monoshock. Braking is handled by a 300mm radially mounted disc at the front and a 230mm rear disc with a floating calliper, with dual-channel ABS. Fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels, it comes with a 110-section tyre at the front and a 150-section tyre at the rear. It features a seat height of 822mm, ground clearance of 155mm and weighs 159kg.
The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 gets an all-LED lighting setup, including an updated LED headlight with LED DRLs, indicators and taillight. It has been updated with a fully LCD instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation via Bluetooth. In addition to basic information such as speed, fuel level, odometer readings, and tripmeter, it provides call and SMS alerts and shows phone battery and signal levels along with modern features like distance-to-empty, real-time mileage indicator, and a gear position indicator.
The KTM Duke 200 is equipped with an all-LED lighting setup including the recently updated LED headlights from the previous gen-Duke 250. It comes with a fully digital instrument cluster that includes a speedometer, odometer, tachometer, tripmeter, fuel gauge and a digital clock. It also features a Supermoto mode that enables you to switch off the rear ABS and allows you to lock the rear wheel and slide the bike.
While both bikes have similar performance and sporty looks, the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 comes loaded with more features compared to the KTM Duke 200. The Pulsar NS200 seems more value for money at Rs 1.57 lakh as the Duke 200 costs almost Rs 40k more at Rs 1.96 lakh (both prices ex-showroom).
