Hero recently launched the 2024 Xtreme 160R 2V in India and the bike has undergone a couple of changes in terms of design, features, comfort and most importantly pricing. In this article, we will be going over what makes the 2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 2V different from the old Hero Xtreme 160R 2V.
In the 2024 update, Hero has decided to bring the same drag race timer that they had added to the Xtreme 160R 4V recently, to the Xtreme 160R 2V. The timer features 2 modes: D1 and D2.
The D1 mode measures the bike’s 0-60kmph acceleration time and the D2 mode measures the bike’s quartermile (0-402m) sprint timing. Overall, the drag race timer is a neat addition which adds a bit of sportiness to the bike. Other than this, the instrument console on the Xtreme 160R remains the same.
To enhance the bike’s overall comfort, Hero has added a new seat which features a flatter profile.
The flatter profile and lowered pillion section will make the bike more accessible to riders of all sizes, while at the same time making it more comfortable for the pillion as well.
Design wise, the bike has now undergone a small change. Hero has brought the same H-shaped tail light that they have used on the Xtreme 160R 4V and their higher capacity offerings like the Mavrick 440.
Overall, the new taillight looks compact and makes the bike feel a lot more sleeker than before.
Now, with all these changes one might expect the prices to have gone up. But Hero managed to surprise us by making the bike a lot more affordable than before. Earlier the Xtreme 160R 2V was sold at a starting price of Rs 1,21,636. Now it is sold at Rs 1,11,111, making it Rs 10,525 cheaper than before. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
Coming to the variants and colours, this is one place where we feel like we have lost out. Earlier the bike was offered in both a single-disc and dual-disc variant, but now the bike only comes in a single disc variant with single-channel ABS as standard. Colours wise, now the bike is only offered in the Stealth Black colour.
That said, this does help narrow down the choices and makes buying easier. But given what we are missing out on it doesn’t seem like a fair trade.
Other than these additions and the price cut, the Xtreme 160R 2V remains unchanged. The bike is still powered by the same 163cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 15.2PS and 14Nm.
The Xtreme 160R goes up against other bikes in the 150-160cc segment such as the Bajaj Pulsar N150 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V. To get a better understanding of how the three bikes compare, check out our comparison here.
