The subcompact sedan segment has been in the spotlight recently, especially with the launch of the new generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire and 2024 Honda Amaze. Both models bring fresh looks and segment-first features, sparking a lot of attention. While we have already compared Dzire and Amaze, this article shifts focus to a comparison between the Honda Amaze and Tata Tigor.
The new Amaze debuts first-in-segment ADAS, alongside a host of new features and design changes. On the other hand, the Tigor remains a decently equipped sedan. Let us see how these two stack up against each other.

Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9.40 lakh (includes CNG variants) |
The Honda Amaze starts at Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Tigor starts at Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). Although there is a significant price difference at the entry-level, the gap narrows when we look at the top-spec variants. The Amaze’s top-spec variant is priced at Rs 10.90 lakh, while the Tigor’s costs Rs 9.40 lakh, which is a difference of Rs 1.5 lakh in the top-spec variants.

Both subcompact sedans are almost identical in terms of overall length and boot space but they differ in width, height, and wheelbase. The new Amaze is wider, while the Tigor is slightly taller. Additionally, the Amaze boasts a longer wheelbase, which on paper, paired with its wider cabin, may contribute to a better cabin space.

The new Amaze gets a clear edge over the Tigor in terms of features and safety equipment. It comes with a segment-first feature, such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Plus, there is connected car tech, 6 airbags, hill hold assist, ESP, and a wireless phone charger to name a few extras. The Tigor, though well-equipped with features, such as a 7-inch information touchscreen, dual airbags, TPMS, 8 speakers, and cruise control, lacks some advanced features and safety equipment.

The Amaze continues to use the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine, delivering 90 PS and 110 Nm, while the Tigor gets a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes slightly less at 86 PS but produces a marginally more torque at 113 Nm. Both sedans come with a manual and automatic transmissions across the range. However, the Tigor is one of the few cars in India to offer CNG-powered automatic variants. As it stands, the Amaze does not get any CNG option.
The new Honda Amaze stands out with its fresh design, modern-day features, advanced safety equipment, including ADAS, making it a more feature-packed offering in its segment. While the Tata Tigor misses out on a modern design and new features, its competitive pricing and the availability of CNG powertrain, especially CNG paired with the automatic transmission, seems to offer a strong value.
