The Kia Seltos facelift has been crowned the benchmark of the compact SUV segment by many. But this was before the arrival of the 2024 Hyundai Creta facelift, which has upped the game over the outgoing model. It is genuinely a lot more “palatable” than before, with modern styling touches, a premium interior packing a slew of features and a plethora of engine options. So how do the two stack up against each other on paper? Let’s take a look:
Despite being cousins, the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta have a different approach to their design. The Seltos looks sharper, while the Creta looks muscular. Both get premium lighting elements like connected LED taillights and LED DRLs. While the Creta sits on 17-inch alloy wheels (top-spec), the Seltos boasts bigger 18-inch alloy wheels in its X-Line trim. You can take a look at both the models in our in-depth image galleries:

Again, both the cars have taken a different approach for their cabin designs. While the Seltos looks more conventional in its design, it feels like Hyundai was having some fun while styling the dashboard of the Creta.
Thankfully, both get physical knobs and buttons for their AC controls and even their dual digital screens sit on a single bezel, which exudes a premium feel.
But when it comes to the themes, it is the Seltos which offers you more options. With the 2024 Creta, there is just a single grey dual-tone theme on offer. Is Hyundai reserving the dark theme for something sportier? A Creta N Line maybe? Hmm… Only time will tell.

Both, the 2024 Creta and Seltos, are well matched on the features front, making it almost impossible to split the two apart. That said, the top-spec X-line trim of the Seltos does pack a couple of features over the Creta, which includes the heads-up display and 18-inch wheels.

Both compact SUVs share the same set of engines - two 1.5-litre petrols and one diesel. But the transmission pairing with those particular engines vary slightly. The Creta’s turbo-petrol can be paired to a 7-speed DCT only, while the Seltos’ unit can be had with a 6-speed iMT as well.
In the diesel engine option, the Seltos gets a 6-speed iMT or an automatic, while the Creta gets a 6-speed MT or AT. The gearbox options for the NA petrol engines are mutual between the two.

|
Price (ex-showroom) |
Rs 10.89 lakh to Rs 20.29 lakh |
Rs 11 lakh to Rs 20 lakh |
While the starting prices for the 2024 Hyundai Creta are slightly lower than that of the Seltos, the top-spec Kia’s price is slightly higher than that of the Hyundai’s. Do note that these are introductory prices, and a price hike will hit the Creta sooner rather than later.

Summing up, they are essentially the same car, albeit wrapped up and served in different packaging, pandering to different tastes. And since there isn’t a lot to set the two apart, the choice between the two will come down to which brand feels more premium to you, or which design suits your eyes better. We know our pick, but which one would you drive home (if you were to)? Let us know in the comments below.
