2024 Kia Sonet Facelift India Debut Tomorrow: 5 Things You Need To Know

Kia is all set to reveal the new 2024 Kia Sonet facelift on December 14 in India. This update marks the first major makeover for the popular sub-4m SUV since its market introduction back in mid-2020. The official price announcement, meanwhile, is expected to take place in early 2024. Now, let us take a look at the top 5 highlights of the new Sonet:   

Kia Sonet Exteriors 

We have already seen the Sonet facelift courtesy a leaked image, but here’s a quick recap. Key updates include a revised grille with new inserts, new LED headlights and DRLs which now extend into the bumper. The sub-4m SUV comes with a new air dam and an updated bumper design with sleeker LED fog lamps.

On the sides, the main changes are the new alloy wheels. At the rear, the Sonet comes with a new connected tail lamp inspired by the Seltos, and a new bumper. 

Kia Sonet Interiors 

This time around, Kia has not gone all-out for the updates on the insides. The new Sonet will continue with the existing dashboard layout. It will house a floating touchscreen infotainment, while the centre console will get an updated climate control panel. It will also get revamped interior colours, details of which can be found here.

Features of the Kia Sonet

The new Sonet will come with ADAS tech like forward collision alert and autonomous emergency braking (AEB), a new fully digital driver’s display, and a 360-degree camera system. Additional features like the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, sunroof, and Bose sound system will be carried over from the outgoing model.

The Kia Sonet facelift will also get six airbags, ABS, ESP, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). 

Kia Sonet Powertrain Details 

Kia is bringing back the 6-speed MT gearbox on the 1.5-litre diesel engine. Apart from this update, the new Sonet will retain its existing engine and gearbox as below:

Price and expected rivals in India 

With new features like ADAS, we can expect Kia to slightly increase the price of the Sonet. For reference, the outgoing model starts from Rs 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of rivals, the Sonet will go up against the likes of the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, and Nissan Magnite.
