The 2024 Kia Sonet facelift has just hit the market with significant changes to its design and a bunch of new feature additions. While most of the latter are being offered in the higher variants, Kia hasn’t forgotten about the lower trims. So if you were in the market for a budget variant of the 2024 Kia Sonet and were looking at the one-above-base HTK variant, here’s everything you need to know about it:
Design wise, the Sonet HTK doesn’t look like a one-above base variant. There’s halogen headlights instead of LEDs, no DRLs (that gets a styling outline, though), and the taillights are also halogen only. But the latter is still connected, albeit without any illumination.
You also get a different shade for the cladding elements on both the front and rear bumper.
Further uplifting the exterior look are the bits like the silver roof rack, the shark fin antenna and the 16-inch dual tone alloy wheels.

First up, the interior of the HTK variant follows an all-black theme. But breaking the monotony here are the silver inserts on the quirky air vents, around the central gear lever console and the steering wheel.

The manual AC controls do look slightly old school, but thankfully, there’s an 8-inch infotainment unit flanked with physical buttons and dials for various functionalities. Even the steering gets mounted controls – the same one you get in the much premium Seltos.
Coming to the seats, you get semi leatherette seats finished in an all black hue. The rear occupants don’t get adjustable headrests and the new Sonet completely misses out on headrests for the middle passenger, but on the flip side, you get rear sunshades that give you a layer of privacy.
Despite being on the lower end in the variant lineup, the HTK doesn’t ask you to compromise on the features front. In fact, it gets some decent kit including the aforementioned 8-inch infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 4.2-inch semi digital driver’s display, C-type chargers (1 at the front, 2 at the rear), tilt steering, electric ORVMs, rear AC vents, 6-speaker sound system, and rear sun shades.
On the safety front, the Sonet comes packing a slew of standard safety features, which include six airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability management, a tyre pressure monitoring system, hill-start assist, and seat belt reminders for all passengers. The HTK variant further packs a rear view camera for ease of parking.
The Sonet HTK only gets two powertrain options – an 83PS 1.2-litre NA petrol with a 5-speed manual and a 115PS 1.5-litre diesel 6-speed MT. The 6-speed MT for the diesel engine is a new addition for the 2024 Sonet and can be had in other variants as well. But one drawback for the HTK variant comes in the form of not having any automatic option on offer. So people wanting an automatic will inevitably have to consider some other variants.
There are multiple powertrains on offer with the Sonet, including a turbo-petrol engine. You can know about the Sonet’s variant-wise engine options here.

The Kia Sonet HTK petrol is priced at Rs 8.79 lakh, while the diesel-powered variant is sold at Rs 10.39 lakh. For the top-spec Sonet with all the bells and whistles, you’ll have to shell out Rs 15.69 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). As for its rivals, it goes up against the likes of the Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Renault Kiger.
