Mahindra has launched the 5-door Thar Roxx and has announced prices for the rear-wheel drive variants, which range from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Prices of the four-wheel drive variants are expected to be out in the coming weeks. That said, the Thar Roxx’s range is nearly similar to one of Mahindra’s best sellers, the Scorpio N and this makes for a feisty on-paper comparison. And that’s what we have done in this report.
Let the match begin!
First things first - we are going to find out which of these two SUVs are the pehelwans when it comes to size. You can check out the dimensions of both the models here:

Out of the two, the Scorpio N is the longer and wider SUV, while the Thar ROXX is taller and has a longer wheelbase by 100 mm. That being said, despite the longer wheelbase, the Thar Roxx is offered only as a 5-seater, while the Scorpio N can be had either as 6-seater of a 7-seater.
The interior of the Scorpio N features a dual-tone brown and black theme, while the Thar Roxx gets a black and white scheme for the cabin. The 5-door Thar gets the larger infotainment system, but the Scorpio N gets a dual-zone climate control in the lower centre console compared to the Thar’s single-zone climate control. A similarity in the cabin is that both SUVs get the same steering wheel.
Let’s take a closer look at the features of both the SUVs:

The Thar Roxx’s base diesel engine is more powerful than the Scorpio N’s entry-level oil burner.
When you compare the higher output diesel engines of both SUVs, they have the same power figures, but the Scorpio N is a tad more torquier. Do note that the Thar Roxx’s more powerful diesel engine can be had with an automatic transmission only.
The turbo-petrol engine of the Scorpio N is more powerful than the Thar Roxx.
