As far as production vans go, it doesn’t get any better, or shall we say opulent, when it comes to the Mercedes-Benz V-Class. And guess what? The German marque has just updated its lineup with a long pending facelift, which further ups the game in every direction.
The V range of Mercedes models now include the New EQV, V-Class and V-Class Marco Polo, which are part of the passenger vehicle lineup, and Vito and eVito, which will serve a commercial purpose.
The Mercedes-Benz V-Class still retains the typical silhouette of a van, but not so typical are the revisions to the grille and head and tail lights, changes to the latter of which look modern and premium. Both the front and rear bumpers have been redesigned, and each of the EQV, V-Class and V-Class Marco Polo models get a distinctive radiator grille to differentiate them from each other.
You get aerodynamically optimised 17-, 18- and 19-inch alloys, while the lights at the rear have been darkened with a black garnish, which according to Mercedes, creates a more precise light signature. The upright Mercedes emblem sitting on top of the hood is a status-defining move, representing the highest and best of the class. Overall, the changes do make it sleeker and appealing to look at.
The V-Class is available in four variants: an entry-level variant, STYLE variant, AVANTGARDE lines, and EXCLUSIVE luxury version. It also gets optional AMG Line and Night packages. The EQV is available in the AVANTGARDE line.

The cabin of the facelifted V-Class is immediately recognisable as a Mercedes. Familiarities can be seen in the single bezel setup which houses two 12.3-inch digital screens, a la the older E-Class, air vents and new 3-spoke steering wheel – also seen in other Mercedes.
The V-Class EXCLUSIVE model comes loaded to the brim with equipment like wireless smartphone charging, front seats with 4-way lumbar support and adjustable seat cushion depth, electrically adjustable driver's seat including memory function, tinted windows in the rear, and electrically operated sliding doors.
The central console almost protrudes out of the dashboard beneath the horizontal central air vents. It stores buttons, toggles, and switches for various functions including HVAC and infotainment controls as well. You also get a neatly integrated ambient light strip outlining the lower and middle section of the dashboard.
You can spec the van to have either four or six seats inside, depending on your usage, but it’s the four-seater version where things get really premium on the inside. Of course, customisation options abound and a tasteful spec can make the V-Class an epitome of luxury on wheels, especially with this 2024 model.

It also gets a bunch of ADAS features including autonomous emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist and more.
At the time of writing this article, Mercedes hasn’t divulged any powertrain specifications for the new V-class models; however, no major revisions are expected on that front. Just for reference, the outgoing electric EQV offers a claimed WLTP range of 363km. The outgoing global-spec ICE model was powered using a 2-litre diesel paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

In India, Mercedes used to retail the V-Class before pulling the plug on the model in late December 2022. If this 2024 model makes it to India, it is likely to do so via the CBU route and could carry a price tag north of Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom). The Mercedes-Benz V-Class’s chief rival in India would be the Toyota Vellfire.
