The highly anticipated Nissan X-Trail is all set to launch in India in its fourth gen avatar in the coming weeks. The Nissan X-Trail will be available in a single variant in a 7-seat configuration, and will rival other premium SUVs in the market like the Skoda Kodiaq. In this article, we compare the dimensions, powertrain and features of these big family SUVs.

Noticeably, the Skoda Kodiaq fares as a larger vehicle when compared to the Nissan X-Trail by being longer, wider and even has a longer wheelbase. However, the X-Trail is slightly taller than the Kodiaq by 40 mm. With the larger proportions, the Kodiaq does have the benefit of liberating more in-cabin space, at least on paper.

Both these SUVs are available in a single-engine option as mentioned in the table above. While the X-Trail is available with a 1.5-litre powertrain, the Kodiaq gets a larger 2-litre turbocharged unit with more performance on offer. Both the SUVs also get a single automatic gearbox option, but it’s the Kodiaq that has a 4-wheel drive (4WD) setup available as well. The Nissan X-Trail, on the other hand, gets a limited slip differential too but is a front-wheel-drive (FWD) offering.
The Skoda Kodiaq is priced at Rs 39.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Prices for the Nissan X-Trail are expected to be revealed soon, and we expect Nissan to price it competitively around the Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.
