2024 Tata Curvv vs Tata Curvv EV: Exterior Design Differences Explained

Both models are the first mass market SUV-coupe offerings in India, with the Curvv EV set to launch on August 7, 2024

Tata Motors has finally taken the wraps off the production-spec Curvv and Curvv EV, showcasing their exterior design. Both models carry a similar design language but have subtle yet distinct differences. In this read, we compare how the ICE-powered Curvv visually differs from its electric counterpart, the Curvv EV.

Curvv and Curvv EV: Design differences

At first instance, both the Curvv and Curvv EV are sure to grab your attention with their unique sloping roofline.

Up front, the Curvv will remind you of its elder sibling, the Safari, especially in the Cosmic Gold shade. It features similar-looking headlight housings, airdams, and body-coloured grille inserts but with slight distinction. On the other hand, the Curvv EV boasts a sleek full-width LED DRL like the Curvv but has certain differences in its fascia. It has a closed grille with a charging port hidden behind the Tata logo. Also, the lower part of its front grille looks distinct, adorned with silver vertical lines to distinguish it from the ICE-powered model. The treatment is similar to what we’ve seen on the Nexon EV.

Except for their alloy wheel design, both models share more similarities in side profiles than differences. The Curvv boasts petal-like 5-spoke alloy wheel design, while the Curvv EV has an aero-friendly alloy design that sets it apart. As for their sizes, they are 18-inches. The sloping roofline gives them a sportier look compared to the other conventional designs of their competition. Additionally, both the Curvv and Curvv EV have flush door handles, adding a minimalist and premium touch to their design.

Moving to their rear profiles, both models look identical with an upright stance, sleek LED tail lights running across the body, and a blacked-out chunky rear bumper that adds to their ruggedness. They also feature a dual roof-mounted spoiler, which adds a sporty touch to their SUV coupe design.  So overall, the difference isn’t day and night, but just enough to set the two siblings apart.

Curvv and Curvv EV: Features, powertrain and other details

While Tata Motors has yet to reveal the interiors of both models, earlier spy shots have suggested a cabin design similar to the Nexon with a floating infotainment system and a four-spoke steering wheel.

Features list is expected to include a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, powered and ventilated front-row seats, and a wireless phone charger. On the safety front, both are expected to get six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS.

The ICE-powered Curvv is expected to be offered with a new 125 PS/ 225 Nm 1.2-litre T-GDI turbo petrol engine and a 115 PS/ 260 Nm 1.5-litre diesel engine sourced from Nexon. Transmission options will likely include a standard 6-speed manual, with a dual-clutch automatic transmission for the petrol engine and an AMT for the diesel engine variants.

In contrast, the Curvv EV is expected to come with multiple battery pack options, offering a claimed range of up to 500 km. It is also expected to feature fast charging capabilities, with a minimum of 50 kW DC charging support.

Tata Motors will launch the Curvv EV on August 7, followed by its ICE-powered counterpart.

Pricing-wise, the Curvv is expected to be priced from around Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Curvv EV will likely start from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of rivalry, the former will compete against the upcoming Citroen Basalt while serving an SUV-coupe alternative to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Honda Elevate, and the Skoda Kushaq. While the latter will lock horns with the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric, BYD Atto 3, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
