Yamaha has launched the 2024 Aerox Alpha in Indonesia
It is offered in 4 variants
Now gets a TFT console with smartphone connectivity
Yamaha has launched the 2024 Aerox Alpha in Indonesia. The scooter is the international spec version of the Yamaha Aerox 155. It is offered in 4 variants and a wide range of colours. Now, with the new update, it has a lot more features on offer.
The Aerox Alpha features a sharp and aggressive styling, similar to the regular Aerox. But what the Indonesia spec version does better is offer a wider range of colours. The 4 variants offer different colour schemes. The top-of-the-line Turbo Ultimate variant and the Turbo variant offers a single matt dark grey colour scheme.
The mid-spec Cyber City variant offers 2 colours: CyberCity and Matt Blue Yellow. Out of all the colours offered, these two are our favourite and we hope Yamaha launches something similar in India for the existing Yamaha Aerox 155. The Standard variant is offered in 4 colours, but they aren’t anything mindblowing like the CyberCity variant’s colours.
Coming to the powertrain, the Aerox Alpha is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine which produces 15.4PS and 14.2Nm. Yamaha has also added in a new transmission which they call the Electric CVT (Continuous variable transmission) or YECVT. This new system has brought some interesting additions to the scooter.
The scooter now has two riding modes: Town Commuting and S Mode. The Town Commuting mode is for riding in the city, and it offers a more laid-back power delivery. The S Mode or sport mode, is for times when you want more power and performance.
Along with this, the scooter now gets what Yamaha calls Y-Shift. This lets the rider control the level of acceleration via 3 modes: High, Medium and Low. The system sounds quite interesting and really adds a level of versatility to the scooter.
Lastly, the Aerox Alpha gets a new TFT console with 3 display modes. The display modes are Standard, Dynamic and Sport. The console also offers smartphone connectivity via Yamaha Y-Connect for features like call/SMS alerts and turn-by-turn navigation.
Compared to the India-spec Aerox 155, the Alpha has disc brakes at both ends. Overall, the Aerox Alpha looks quite good and we wish Yamaha brought it to India, along with their other maxi-style offerings. Currently, the Aerox Alpha is sold in Indonesia at a starting price of 2,99,00,000 Indonesian Rupiahs or Rs 1.56 lakh, which is quite close to the Aerox 155’s ex-showroom price of Rs 1,48,400 in India.
