New Skoda Enyaq gets a new look inside and out
Offers longer range thanks to aerodynamically optimised body
New features remote park assist function
Fresh design and interior resemble the latest Skoda models
Gets a 13-inch infotainment, updated MySkoda app support, and updated ADAS
Czech Republic automaker Skoda has pulled the wraps off the new Enyaq globally. The electric crossover brings a range of substantial changes across the board, such as a fresh look with optimised aerodynamics, an upmarket cabin that uses sustainable materials, upgraded powertrains offering a longer range, and more standard features. The Enyaq still continues to be available in two body styles: SUV and Coupe. For Europe, the prices of the Enyaq range start at €44,000 (around Rs 38,88,000).
As a part of the update, the new Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe are marginally grown in dimensions. To be specific, the Enyaq is longer by 9 mm to 4,658 mm and taller by 1 mm to 1,622 mm, while the Enyaq Coupe is also longer by 5 mm and taller by 2 mm with length and height identical to the SUV. For both models, the width of 1,879 has been carried over. On the other hand, the wheelbase has gone up by 1 mm to 2,766 mm. Wheel sizes range between 19 to 21 inches.
Coming to the exterior design, the new Enyaq features a completely new look, featuring the brand’s ‘Modern Solid’ design language. The electric crossover is also aerodynamically optimised, resulting in an improved range. To start with, it gets a fresh front end reminiscent of the Elroq. There is a split headlight setup and a light band running across the width of the close-off grille, which is called Tech-Deck Face, hiding radar sensors and a front camera. Most notably, the Skoda logo has been replaced by lettering, following the new Skoda brand identity.
While the side profile of the Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe remain similar to the previous models, the rear has received a minor redesign. Meanwhile, it gets a new Olibo Green metallic paint option with additional solid and metallic shades.
The revamped interior of the new Enyaq resembles the new-gen Superb, Kodiaq, and Octavia. Its minimalist appearance makes way for a large infotainment touchscreen, a small driver’s display, and a handful of switches on the dashboard. There is also a new steering wheel featuring Skoda lettering. Internationally, Skoda offers the Enyaq with 6 distinct interior trims, namely Loft, Lodge, Lounge, Eco Suite, Suite, and Sportline. These trims use sustainable materials, such as microfiber, artificial leather, and textiles. For the Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe, the boot space stands at 585-1,710 litres and 570-1,610 litres, respectively.
The electric crossover pair now gets a variety of features as standard equipment, such as open-on-approach or walk-away locking, three-zone AC, front heated seats, and a tow bar.
Key highlights of the new Enyaq include a 5-inch driver’s display, a 13-inch central information hub, 45W USB Type-C ports, a heads-up display, a new iteration of the MySkoda app with additional functionality, and a park assist with a new remote park assist function. Standard functions of ADAS now include side assist and crew protect assist. Apart from that, the new models get modern-day features and safety equipment.
The Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe are available in 2 battery pack options 63 kWh and 82 kWh across a single and dual-motor setup. The range and power output vary depending on the trim level. For the Enyaq, the 60 delivers 430 km, 85 offers 580 km, while the range-topping 85x delivers 540 km. Whereas, the Enyaq Coupe’s 60 and 85 have a range of 440 km and 590 km, respectively. The 85x, on the other hand, offers a range of 550 km.
Power output ranges from 204 PS and 310 Nm to 286 PS and 545 Nm. The top speed for 60 and 85 is rated at 160 kmph, while the 85x tops out at 180 kmph. Depending on the trim, the DC charging capacity varies from 135 kW to 175 kW. In contrast, they all support 11 kW wall box charging. The 175 kW charger claims to recharge the 82 kWh battery pack from 10 to 80 percent in 28 minutes.
Skoda may introduce the new Enyaq in India sometime later this year. Notably, we expect the price of the electric crossover to start at Rs 55-65 lakh. In international markets, the new Enyaq takes on the Audi Q4 e-tron, Volkswagen ID.4, and Tesla Model Y. For India, it will possibly rival the Kia EV6, Mercedes-Benz EQA, BMW iX1, and Volvo C40 Recharge.
