We will be getting the smaller, more affordable Passion Plus though

A new Hero Passion XPro has been spotted shooting for a TV commercial on Indian roads, and it looks quite stylish. The sad bit, however, is that it won’t be coming to India even though it is already on sale in Bangladesh. Why won’t it come to India? Here are three major reasons.

Outdated engine

The powertrain featured on the spied bike is a completely different unit from what Hero offers here. Unlike the India-spec Passion’s fuel-injected engine, the Passion XPro gets a 109.15cc single-cylinder carbureted engine, which is BS4-compliant mill. Even if Hero added an electronic carburettor, it still wouldn’t make sense as Hero already offers a full-fledged fuel-injection which is BS6 Phase 2-compliant anyway.

Anyway, Passion Plus Is Launching Soon

As we had reported earlier, Hero is working on launching a Passion Plus revival in the BS6.2 avatar, which makes the Passion XPro a redundant addition to the bikemaker’s portfolio. Unlike the already-existing Passion Pro and Passion Xtec, the Plus on the other hand, will be a 100cc commuter that will be equipped with OBD-2-compliant heart -  basically, the Splendor Plus’ engine. It will be a much more affordable addition to Hero’s Passion range.

The Passion Xtec already exists in India

Following the new feature-fever trend, the Passion XPro gets the Xtec treatment. But why would Hero India launch another Xtec variant for the commuter when the Passion Xtec already exists in India with prices starting at Rs 78,528, ex-showroom Delhi.

With all these factors taken into consideration, it doesn’t really make sense for Hero to launch the Passion XPro in India.
