Kia recently gave the Sonet a long-awaited facelift, considering it has been on sale since 2020. With this update, the Sonet not only receives a refreshed design and new features and you also get to choose from multiple powertrains. These factors may position it as a better choice than its counterpart, the Hyundai Venue and here are four aspects that we think makes the Sonet a better choice than the Venue.
With the 2024 Sonet facelift, Kia has added a new colour shade, Pewter Olive, which was introduced with the 2023 Seltos facelift. In addition to this, you have the option to choose from eight monotone and two dual-tone colour shades for the facelifted Sonet, while the Venue offers you with six monotone and a single dual-tone option, respectively. Take a look at all the colours offered with both the cars:

Mechanically, both the SUVs get the same diesel, turbo-petrol, and naturally aspirated petrol engines. However, with the Sonet diesel, you have the option to configure it with either a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed clutchless manual, along with the 6-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the Venue is limited to a 6-speed manual transmission with the 1.5-litre diesel engine.

A point to note here is that Kia offers the turbo-petrol with a 6-speed iMT, while the same in the Venue is paired to a 6-speed manual. Take a look at the detailed specifications here:

It’s this department where the Kia SUV trumps the Venue by a big margin. These are the features the Sonet offers over the Venue:
10.25-inch digital driver’s display
Larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system (Venue gets an 8-inch unit)
Ventilated front seats
7-speaker Bose sound system (as opposed to 6-speaker unit)
Rear wheel disc brakes
Safety features like ADAS and six airbags across all variants are common in both cars. However, with the Sonet, you will also get front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and a blind-view monitor on the instrument cluster, which will aid you in driving, especially when driving through congested roads. Other standard safety features in both cars include ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and rear parking sensors.
Prices for the 2024 Sonet are yet to be announced while the Venue starts from Rs 7.90 lakh and goes up to Rs 13.48 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from rivalling each other, they also go up against the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, and Nissan Magnite.
