Every year, the Indian festive season gets a bunch of new cars considering the sales peak at these times. Whether it's price announcements, the commencement of bookings or new launches, most of it happens around when the festivities approach. This year, many new cars are expected to enter the Indian market, and here are five of them which will be priced under Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
Topping our list is the 2023 Nexon facelift. Test mules of the heavily revised subcompact SUV have been spotted multiple times, and the carmaker will debut the facelifted Nexon by this festive season.
The updated Nexon will get a revamped exterior, a new cabin design, and may also get a 1.2-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engine. We expect the facelifted Nexon to be priced from Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. For more details, check out this story.
One of the latest models in the compact SUV segment, the Honda Elevate, may be launched as soon as the first week of September. The Elevate has been unveiled and you can check out what it is like to drive here in our in-depth first drive review.
The Elevate gets the City’s 121PS 1.5-litre petrol engine option with no hybrid powertrain on offer. Its prices are expected to start from Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom), so some of its variants will fall under the Rs 15 lakh budget. You can also check out its variant-wise powertrain and colour options here.
The latest product from the Maruti-Toyota partnership will be launched this festive season. The Toyota Rumion, essentially a rebadged Maruti Ertiga, will be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine, with a CNG powertrain on offer as well.
However, like any other rebadged model, there are some minor styling differences, which you can check out in this report. The Rumion is expected to be priced in the Ertiga’s ballpark, the prices for which start from Rs 8.64 lakh (ex-showroom).
Another addition to the compact SUV segment, the Citroen C3 Aircross, may also be launched around the same time. The C3 Aircross is unique to the segment as it brings a three-row layout to the table.
It gets a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with only a 6-speed manual transmission. And despite bringing its unique formula, the features list is quite basic. The C3 Aircross is expected to be priced from around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra’s premium version of the Bolero, called the Bolero Neo, may get an elongated version this festive season. The Bolero Neo Plus has been under development for a while, and has been spotted on test multiple times.
This 7-seater SUV will likely be powered by the 2.2-litre diesel engine from the Scorpio Classic and is expected to be priced from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. You can check it out in spy images in this article.
Apart from new car launches, a lot of carmakers tend to launch some special editions for their existing models during the festive season. These special editions mostly offer cosmetic and minor feature changes over the corresponding variant. This year, we can expect a few cars to get such special editions as well.
