The year 2024 has been an exhilarating year for the Indian bike industry. But now, as this year nears to its end, we would love to look back to some of the most amazing bikes and scooters that we tested this year. So, here is a list of top 5 quickest 300-500cc bikes that we tested in the year 2024.
We are starting out this list with a Royal Enfield Bear 650, which surprised us with its versatility and performance. The Bear 650 is powered by the same 648cc, inline twin-cylinder engine, paired with a six-speed gearbox, as the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. The engine produces 47.4PS at 7,150rpm and 56.5Nm at 5,150rpm. Even with a 216kg kerb weight, the bike accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in just 6.10 seconds (real-world tested).
Yamaha finally brought the new R3 to the Indian bike market. We are not surprised that the twin-cylinder Jap has made it to our list. Powered by a 321cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, the Yamaha R3 makes a maximum output of 42PS and 29.6Nm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. It showed a fantastic 0 to 100kmph acceleration time in out test, being a millisecond faster than the Bear 650, it achieved a triple-digit acceleration in just 6.09 seconds.
How can we miss the 2024 KTM 390 Duke when talking about the fastest bikes in the 300-500cc segment? Despite being the only single-cylinder bike on the list, the Austrian naked bike is one of the most powerful bikes in the segment with crazy power delivery, giving a hard time to the twin-cylinder bikes. The 390 Duke features a 399cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine making a solid 46PS and 39Nm. Securing the 3rd position on this list, the KTM 390 Duke recorded a 0 to 100kmph acceleration time of just 5.91 seconds in our road test.
The Kawasaki Ninja 500 was one of the smoothest bikes that we rode this year. The Kawasaki Ninja 500 is equipped with a 451cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine delivering 45.4PS and 42.6Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. The Ninja 500 accelerated from 0 to 100kmph in just 5.44 seconds during our test, achieving the 2nd position on this list.
The Aprilia RS 457 was launched back in December 2023. But, we received the media bike in 2024, and that’s when we tested the bike. The Italian bike has an all-new 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine producing 47.6PS and Nm, paired with a six-speed transmission with slip-and-assist clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter. Being the quickest bike in the 300-500cc segment, the Aprilia RS 457 accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in just 5.39 seconds (real-world tested).
