The 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO is the latest entrant in the fiercely competitive sub-4m SUV segment. Priced from Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom), it is Rs 50,000 cheaper than one of its primary competitors, the Kia Sonet, whose prices begin from Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite that difference, the XUV 3XO boasts six additional features over the Sonet that are worth considering when choosing between the two models. Check them out here:
One key feature introduced in the Mahindra XUV 3XO is its segment-first panoramic sunroof, which is highly admired among buyers in our market. In contrast, the Kia Sonet features a single-pane sunroof.
If you configure the XUV 3XO in its higher-spec AX7 and AX7 Luxury variants, you get 17-inch alloy wheels. On the other hand, even the top-spec GT Line trim of the Kia Sonet is offered with 16-inch alloy wheels only. Notably, the base-spec MX1 variant of the XUV 3XO is equipped with 16-inch steel wheels.
Coming on to convenience features, the XUV 3XO boasts a dual-zone climate control system that lets the driver and front passenger set the cabin temperature according to their specific preferences. This feature is absent in the Kia Sonet, though it gets an automatic climate control system.
Another feature exclusive to the Mahindra XUV 3XO compared to the Sonet is the 65W fast type-C charging port, available for front-row passengers. This convenient feature is useful for charging larger devices like laptops or just to fast-charge your smartphone. Meanwhile, the Sonet comes equipped with one type-C charging port in the front and two in the rear along with a 12V charging socket, but it isn’t a fast charging port
The XUV 3XO takes the lead, with segment-first Level 2 ADAS featuring adaptive cruise control. The Sonet comes with ADAS features which is Level 1 tech, and includes features like lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and high beam assist, which are common across both the SUVs.
Last but not the least, the XUV 3XO comes equipped with an electronic parking brake with auto-hold function. It offers added convenience compared to the Sonet’s mechanical parking brake lever. Additionally, the auto-hold function proves beneficial in stop-and-go traffic situations.
The XUV 3XO is priced between Rs 7.49 lakh and Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom) while the Sonet is priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 15.74 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from rivalling each other, both lock horns with the likes of the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
