From the jaws of the Covid pandemic, the automotive industry finally witnessed a proper bounce back between 2022 and 2023. And the year ahead seems to be even more promising, with a ton of new launches that have got us all exhilarated for what’s in store. There will literally be a slew of launches, but this story is a listicle of all the micro and subcompact SUVs that are expected to arrive and launch in 2024.
So without further ado, here’s what you can expect:
Kia’s Sonet subcompact SUV received its first facelift this year, but the car has only been revealed so far, and will likely be launched in January 2024 itself. The facelift brings styling tweaks, minute updates to the cabin, and new features including ADAS to the Sonet’s package. Powertrain options are the same, save for one new addition, and you can know all about the 2024 Kia Sonet facelift in our image gallery article.
Until now, we’ve seen multiple spy shots of the Mahindra XUV300 facelift, which is long overdue for an update. Spy shots suggest XUV700-inspired lighting elements, while the cabin will also get a proper overhaul with a fresh design and new features on offer. Powertrain options are likely to remain unchanged, and you can expect the XUV300 facelift to debut sometime in mid 2024.
Despite being launched this year, the XUV400 electric SUV could receive the same treatment as the XUV300 facelift, given that the EV was based on the XUV300 to begin with. So you can expect styling tweaks, feature additions, and new safety equipment on offer. However, the powertrain specifications are likely to remain the same.
The Maruti X Toyota partnership is going to birth yet another rebadged model in 2024. The model in question is the Baleno-based Maruti Fronx, and our sources tell us a launch could be on the cards in the first quarter of 2024. Expect a few exterior styling differences and new themes for the cabin, but the powertrains and features on offer should be shared between the two. Head here to know more about Toyota’s rebadged Fronx.
The Magnite is the only model currently on sale from Nissan India and apart from a few special editions, the car didn’t really receive any updates since its inception in 2020. So while it isn’t confirmed just yet, it would make sense for Nissan to give the Magnite a mid-life update in 2024 which could include styling revisions, new features, and added safety tech.
Tata is going to continue its push towards electrification in 2024 with new launches like the Curvv EV, but the carmaker will also electrify one of its existing highly popular models – the Punch micro SUV. We’ve seen spy shots till now which hint at Nexon-inspired styling cues, while the powertrain is also expected to be borrowed from the Nexon EV, though in a slightly detuned form. Head here to take a look at its recent spy shot and know more about the upcoming Punch EV.
