Hyundai has launched the facelifted i20 in India with prices starting from Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It gets a few exterior tweaks, a new theme for the interior, a few feature additions and a change in its powertrain options. It has even got cheaper than the outgoing model, despite the mid-life refresh. Here’s everything you need to know about it in 10 images:
The side profile has been unchanged and even the alloy wheels have been carried over unchanged. We hoped that the star-shaped alloy wheels from the global-spec i20 facelift would’ve made their way here as well.

The tweaks at the rear are low-key with only the bumpers getting a slightly new design. Rest, including the snazzy looking Z-shaped LED tailights, has been untouched.
In terms of colour options, there are 6 mono- and 2 dual-tone shades. The former includes Fiery Red, Atlas White, Titan Grey, Typhoon Silver, Starry Night, and Amazon Grey (new). The first two shades, i.e., Fiery Red and Atlas White can be specced with a black roof.
Step inside the Hyundai i20 facelift and you’ll be welcomed by a similar cabin layout, but now offered in a new black/grey colour scheme. It looks a bit fresh compared to the dark cabin of the outgoing model, and is likely to offer a relatively airy feel in comparison.
The features list is the same as before, with the only new addition being the USB Type-C charging ports. Other features like the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a digital driver’s display, sunroof, wireless phone charger, keyless entry with push-button start and cruise control have been retained from the outgoing model.
In terms of safety, it now packs six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start assist, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, three-point seatbelts, and ISOFIX mounts as standard fitments. Going up the variant order will further add tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rear defogger, and height adjustable driver seat to the list.
Hyundai has chucked the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine option from the powertrain list for the i20, and we expect it to be reserved for the upcoming i20 N Line facelift. It is now available with a sole 1.2-litre NA petrol engine, which can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT. Torque is constant at 114.7Nm, while the manual transmission has a power output of 83PS. The CVT belts out 88PS. It also gets idle start-stop technology throughout its trim levels.
And talking about the trims, Hyundai has added a new base-spec Era variant for the i20. So the total number of trims are now five: Era, Magna, Sportz, Asta, and Asta (O).
Thanks to the addition of the new Era trim, prices for the Hyundai i20 have dropped down by Rs 47,000 to Rs 6.99 lakh. Although, prices for the rest of the trims have increased by up to Rs 27,000. The top-spec trim is now retailed at Rs 11.01 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted Hyundai i20 continues to lock horns with the Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza.
