Tata Nexon nameplate hits 7 lakh sales since inception in 2017
Last 1 lakh sales came within 7 months
Nexon is also celebrating its 7th anniversary with discounts of up to Rs 1 lakh
These figures include combined sales of ICE Nexon and Nexon EV.
The Tata Nexon has been nothing short of a runaway success for the carmaker ever since its launch in 2017. Despite heavy competition from the likes of the Maruti Brezza and Hyundai Venue, the Nexon not only stood its ground but went ahead and conquered some more. Proving that statement is their latest seven lakh sales milestone, which arrives at its 7th anniversary and Tatas commemorating this occasion with special discounts of up to Rs 1 lakh.
In this story, we’ll take a look at the Nexon’s journey to 7 lakh sales:

With its bold crossover design package came the first ever Nexon back in 2017. Just 25 months later, the nameplate hit a 1 lakh sales milestone and it didn’t really come as a surprise. It offered multiple engine options, a good list of features, and boasting rights of being India’s first 5-star Global NCAP safety rated vehicle – all of which made it a rather attractive package.
And with Tata’s tendency to refine the recipe over the years, not to mention the myriad of special editions, the carmaker made sure there was a Nexon for everyone. Then what? Simple. The time difference between the next milestones tumbled down with the next lakh coming within 20 months, and the next one within 10 months.
Do note that the electric Nexon EV arrived in 2020 as part of a facelift, and these sales numbers include the sales of both IC Nexon and Nexon EV. That is also the reason why the 3 lakh and corresponding milestones had a significantly lower duration. As a result, post March 2022, every next 1 lakh sales for the Nexon took not more than 8 months.
To celebrate this milestone, Tata is offering the Nexon with benefits of up to Rs 1 lakh, depending on the variant.
These savings are not only applicable on new bookings but can be utilized by the people who have already booked a Nexon and are awaiting delivery. These benefits are applicable until the end of June 2024.
The current Nexon comes packing with features like 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen (12.3-inch in Nexon EV), a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, a 360-degree camera system, a sunroof, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, cruise control, keyless entry, and push-button start.
The safety kit is expansive too with features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts, electronic stability control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system on offer.
Tata continues to offer the Nexon with both petrol and diesel engine options. The former is a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine with an output of 120PS and 170Nm. Transmission options for it include two manual (5- and 6-speed), six-speed AMT and 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
The diesel is a 1.5-litre unit with an output of 115PS and 260Nm. It can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT.

The Nexon EV too is available in two guises: Long range (40.5kWh battery) and medium range (30kWh battery). The former gets a 143PS/215Nm electric motor and the setup has an ARAI-claimed range of 465km. The medium range on the other hand gets a 129PS/215Nm electric motor and the setup offers an ARAI-claimed range of 325km.
Tata retails the Nexon between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 15.79 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Nexon EV is priced from Rs 14.49 lakh to Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
The ICE-Nexon takes on the Maruti Fronx, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, and Maruti Brezza, while the Nexon EV rivals the Mahindra XUV400.
