This year, we saw launches from various mass-market carmakers making headlines with their releases, such as Tata Motors with the introduction of their facelifted 2023 Harrier and Safari, and premium carmakers like Mercedes-Benz with the launch of the EQE SUV and 2023 GLC. However, these cars belong to the segment above Rs 10 lakh, and in this read, we will be listing out all the cars that were launched under Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) in 2023.
MG launched the Comet EV, with a starting price of Rs 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom). This ultra-compact electric vehicle features an off-beat design, setting it apart from others in its segment. The Comet EV is powered by a 42 PS electric motor, paired with a 17.3 kWh battery pack, and offers a claimed range of 230 km. Priced closely to the Tata Tiago EV, it currently has no direct rivals. You can learn more about the Comet EV in our first drive report.
First launched in 2017, the Tata Nexon received a facelift this year, with prices starting from Rs 8.09 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti launched the Fronx, a crossover based on the Baleno, in 2023, with prices starting from Rs 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti also offers the Fronx with a 1-litre Boosterjet engine that generates 100 PS and 138 Nm. Check out our first-drive impressions of the Fronx here.
With a starting price just below the Rs 10 lakh mark, Citroen launched the C3 Aircross in India at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It stands out as the first SUV in its segment to offer three-row seating. Moreover, you can remove the third-row seats when not needed, to create more space in the boot. Despite its limited features, the C3 Aircross is a budget-friendly three-row SUV in our market. For more detailed insights, refer to our in-depth first drive report.
Hyundai introduced a facelift for its premium hatchback, the i20, this year. Launched at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the 2023 i20 facelift shares its design with its European counterpart.
