In an interesting turn of events, Aprilia has confirmed that the Storm 125 sporty scooter’s disc brake variant will be discontinued from July 2022. It will now only be available in the drum brake variant, which retails at Rs 99,296 (ex-showroom Pune as of May 2022).
The Storm 125 is the most affordable scooter in the company’s Indian line-up, and the disc brake variant with a price tag of Rs 1.11 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) is pretty expensive for what’s essentially a 125cc scooter. That said, the drum brake variant, with its lower asking price, makes more sense as the entry level product for Aprilia.
Powering the Storm 125 is a 124.45cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 9.92PS and 9.60Nm. The scooter runs a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. As the name suggests, the drum brake variant gets drum brakes at both ends. The scooter rolls on 12-inch alloy wheels wrapped in block-pattern tyres.
The Aprilia Storm 125 rivals the likes of TVS NTorq 125, Suzuki Avenis and Honda Grazia and is the most expensive of the lot.
