Will be made in India and share the engine with the RS 457

Quick Highlights:

  • Aprilia Tuareg 457 spotted testing

  • Spotted testing at the Africa Eco Rally

  • Gets a rally tower console and rally-spec suspension

The Aprilia Tuareg 457 has been spotted testing without any camouflage at the Africa Eco Rally. The model which was spotted testing was equipped with rally-spec parts such as a rally navigation tower, off-road tyres, rally-spec suspension, and an up-swept full system exhaust. The images also show the bike sporting dual-front headlights and a white colour scheme which reminds us of the Tuaregs from the 1990s.

Other noticeable parts we see are 21/17-inch spoke wheels at both ends which will most likely make it to the production version. In terms of features, the Tuareg may have the same TFT console as the RS 457. The chassis may be based upon the RS 457 but Aprilia may make changes to make it suit the ADV style.

The Aprilia Tuareg 457 most likely will be powered by the same engine as the Aprilia RS 457:  a 457cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that makes 47PS at 9,400rpm and 43.5Nm at 6,700rpm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox with slip-and-assist clutch. Aprilia may change the sprocket size and/or gear ratio to suit its offroad characteristics.

That said, the Tuareg 457 should make its official debut after the Tuono 457 is globally unveiled, which might just be at EICMA this year. The Tuareg 457 is expected to be unveiled sometime next year and will most likely be made in India. We expect the Tuareg to be priced around Rs 4.5 lakh to 5 lakh (ex-showroom).
