If developed, the Tuono 457 is expected to get comfier ergos and be more affordable than the RS 457

Aprilia launched its all-new RS 457 at IBW 2023 (India Bike Week) and now it seems like a Tuono 457 based on the 450cc supersport might be a possibility for the future. Speaking to another publication, when questioned about the possibility of a Tuono 457, Marco Lambri (Design Director, Piaggio) said ”Why not? Why not”, thus hinting at the development of the bike.

Platform sharing is a common norm among two-wheeler manufacturers these days with supersports, nakeds and ADVs being spawn off a single platform. Aprilia themselves do this with the RSV4 and the Tuono V4 sharing the same platform and the Tuono 660 and the Tuareg 660 ADV being based on the RS 660

If Aprilia does make a Tuono 457 based on the RS 457, then going by their approach with the higher-capacity models of both nameplates, the Tuono 457 is expected to get a flatter, single-piece handlebar making the riding posture more upright and comfortable. The full-fairing will be replaced by a more street-naked-ish half-fairing seen on the Tuono 660 and the Tuono V4. Aprilia might even tweak the frame and the subframe to make the bike easier to handle in the city.

The Tuono 457 is expected to get the same 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine producing 47.6PS and 43.5Nm. And it will be more affordable than the Rs 457. As such, it is expected to get a price tag of Rs 3.9 lakh compared to its supersport sibling’s Rs 4,10,000 (all prices ex-showroom) price. This will also help Aprilia reach out to a bigger range of customers as the most affordable motorcycle from the famed Italian manufacturer will be available under the Rs 4 lakh mark.
