Ather Grid to offer free charging for all customers till June 30, 2022

Bengaluru-based Ather Energy has announced it will continue to offer free fast charging for all its customers via its Ather Grid until June 30, 2022. This news comes days before the startup’s original plan to introduce subscription plans for public charging networks from January 1, 2022 onwards.

Ather Energy has been aggressively expanding to new cities, and has now established itself in over 25 cities. Not only has the brand set up its public charging network simultaneously, but in October also introduced the next generation of its charger. The Ather Grid 2.0 is not only faster but also supports Over-The-Air (OTA) updates allowing Ather Energy to push new updates. Currently, the new charging system is being installed in Bengaluru and Chennai, with other cities set to follow soon.

Last month, the EV maker also offered free connectivity features on all its e-scooters until May 15, 2022. With this, all the new and existing customers gain access to Ather Energy’s Connect Pro subscription pack for free. And all the customers who have subscribed to the service will get a full refund.

For reference, the Connect Pro subscription pack gives you access to various navigation features, upload documents, monitor charge status on the app, detect theft and tow and more. Given that Ola Electric has commenced deliveries sans the app connectivity, voice assistant, cruise control and hill hold control, Ather Energy’s announcement couldn’t have come at a better time.

Ather Energy has also ramped up its production, and commissioned a new factory in Hosur that will triple the annual production capacity from its current target of 1.2 lakh units.
