Remember back in September when it was announced that legendary rally driver and Gymkhana legend Ken Block would be teaming up with Audi to develop its future electric models? Well, we’ve already got a new radical beast unveiled in the form of the S1 Hoonitron electric concept. What’s more, Ken Block will be pushing this one-off electric race car concept to the limit in an upcoming “Elektrikhana” video.
You’d recognise this name, as it is inspired by the legendary Audi Sport quattro S1 race car that took on the famous Pikes Peak Hill Climb event. But the S1 Hoonitron is an all-new beast developed from the ground up. At a glance, it looks quite clean unlike Ken Block’s usual manic-looking Gymkhana beasts from before. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any radical bits, with a face featuring a large front splitter as well as a wing. The radical nature continues with snazzy wheels as well as a large rear wing. Pixel themed headlights, an illuminated strip and tail lamps round off the design.
The biggest difference from Ken Block’s Gymkhana rides, is that the Audi S1 Hoonitron will be an all-electric beast. While technical details haven’t been revealed, Audi has confirmed dual electric motors, and all-wheel drivetrain, as well as a carbon-fibre chassis, so we can be sure it’ll be a very capable, tail-happy race car.
To see the Audi S1 Hoonitron in action though, you’ll have to wait a while as the “Elektrikhana” video will be released in a few months. Until then, we’ve got these lovely images of this beast to drool at.
