Tata loves its special editions. But if there is one treatment that it has shown the most love to in recent times, it has to be the ‘Dark editions’. In expanding its lineup of its favourite special edition, Tata has now launched the updated Nexon Dark and Nexon EV Dark editions, with prices starting from Rs 11.45 lakh and Rs 19.49 lakh, (both ex-showroom) respectively. They join the Harrier Dark and Safari Dark editions, which makes Tata’s entire SUV lineup available with this Dark treatment.

Tata is yet to update on which variants of the Nexon and Nexon EV the Dark Editions will be offered. So we’ll update this space once we get our hands on it.
The treatment is nothing new. Find everything and anything visible and slap a dark black hue on it. So the entirety of the exterior, including the bumpers, ORVMs, and the alloy wheels are now covered in a black shade. They also get a ‘Dark’ wordmark on the fender. Only the Tata logo has been spared and there’s no denying the fact that this treatment does make the cars look stealthier and meaner.
The fully black treatment follows inside where everything is covered in the black shade. While it might not make the cabin feel as airy and spacious as before, it does make it look more sporty. The only non-black elements come in the form of the stitching on the seats and on the air vents, AC controls and the illuminated Tata logo.
As for the features, the top-spec Dark edition models will be similar to the standard top-spec variants. So the Nexon will pack features like a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, and a 360-degree camera system. The Nexon EV will get the bigger 12.3-inch touchscreen system along with features like wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger and keyless entry. The features offered will depend on the variant selected.

As for the powertrain options, Tata is yet to divulge the deets but we expect both the Nexon’s turbo-petrol and diesel engine options to get the Dark edition variants along with both manual and automatic options. As for the Nexon EV, the Dark edition variants are likely to be limited to the long range 40.5kWh battery pack. More details on this front soon once we get our hands on the details.

We expect the full price list for the Tata Nexon Dark and Nexon EV Dark editions to be revealed soon, so stay tuned for updates on that. While the Nexon continues to rival sub-4m SUVs like the Maruti Fronx, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Hyundai Venue, the Nexon EV takes on the Mahindra XUV400 EV.
