The Bajaj Freedom 125 is the world’s first CNG bike and as such, a lot of potential customers have a variety of queries about the bike. So here, we have answered 8 of the most frequently asked questions about the CNG bike:
Yes, the CNG bike gets both CNG as well as petrol tanks. The CNG tank has a capacity of 2kg, while the petrol tank has a capacity of 2 litres.
Yes, the Bajaj Freedom 125 can start in both CNG and petrol mode.
There is a switch to toggle between the two tanks on the left switchgear. The bike does not need to be stationary to be able to do that and you can switch between them instantaneously when the bike is in motion as well.
The Bajaj CNG bike gets a claimed mileage of 102km/kg in CNG-only mode and 65kmpl in petrol-only mode. When we road tested the bike, we could only fill 1.63kg in the CNG tank as the CNG pump’s pressure was less than the ideal limit, which is usually around 200 bar. We got a mileage of 85km/kg out of 1.63kg of CNG.
Bajaj Auto has conducted several collision tests to ensure the safety of the CNG tank in any kind of hazardous conditions. In all of those tests, the CNG tank remained intact without any change in pressure and CNG gas leakage. You can read more about how safe the Bajaj CNG bike is in our story here.

The CNG bike has a seat height of 825mm, which tends to be an uncomfortable seat height for most shorter riders. So while it is slightly on the taller side, the seat is actually quite narrow, which should make it a bit easier to touch the ground with both feet when the bike is stationary.
The Bajaj Freedom 125 is available in the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra currently. It will be made available in the rest of states in a phased manner in the next 3-4 months. In terms of the variants, the top-spec NG04 Disc LED is available now, while the other NG04 Drum LED and NG04 Drum variants will be available in a month’s time.
We have ridden the bike for several hours during our road tests and the CNG tank didn’t heat up at all in those instances. Also, the tank didn’t emit any kind of foul order as well.
