The inaugural Bharat Mobility Expo just got wrapped up on February 3. While it may not have been a blockbuster from a ‘new’ car point of view, the show was so much more than just that. The first of a kind Indian expo was a showcase for the entire mobility ecosystem, covering new-gen technologies with a focus on sustainability and infrastructure plans for the future.

After the conclusion of the event, a press conference was carried out, highlighting the importance of a show of such a stature. While addressing the media, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal stated that the Bharat Mobility Show will be an annual event going forward.
This decision will be a big push for the whole industry, as it urges and supports innovations that drive technology forward. Furthermore, it’ll help cement India as one of the leading centres for automotive global capability, building on the nation already being one of the largest markets for vehicle manufacturers.

Interestingly, during a question and answer session with the media after the press conference, Piyush Goyal also added that the Bharat Mobility Show could be merged as a single entity with the Auto Expo. While that is yet to be confirmed, it would make sense for the two shows to come together and hopefully host an event grander than ever. If not, they would just pose a conflict of interest. Besides, offering a one stop or rather one show solution for all things automotive seems like the right move.
So what do you think: should the Auto Expo be merged with the Bharat Mobility Show, or should the two continue as two separate entities? Let us know in the comments below.
