After around three years, BMW’s flagship supersport, the S 1000 RR, has finally received a major update. For 2023, the bike gets subtle-yet-hard-hitting styling tweaks. Its front has gotten sharper and the rear a bit flatter, while the aerodynamic winglets seem to be lifted off the track-only M 1000 RR.
But what’s hands down the most exciting update is its 999cc, inline-four mill. The The new bike makes a staggering 209.38PS, 2.72PS more than before, while the 113Nm torque remains the same. Its already comprehensive electronics suite has also been updated with a new Slide Control Function and Brake Slide Assist. This allows the rider to enjoy some sideways-action with precision. Other electronics including multiple rider modes, cornering ABS & traction control remain the same. The 2023 S 1000 RR’s chassis has also been tweaked for a better front-end feel. The bike also comes in three new classy colour schemes: Blackstorm metallic, Racing red and the Light white.
And of course, these changes don’t come cheap. We expect BMW to give the 2023 iteration of its flagship supersport a Rs 1.5-lakh hike over the current model’s Rs 19.75-lakh (ex-showroom India) price for the base variant. With that, it’ll go up against the Ducati Panigale V4, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and the Honda CBR1000RR-R.
