Quick News Highlights:
- 2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V launched
- It is now available in a single variant
- Two biggest changes are that it now gets dual-channel ABS and a single-piece seat
Hero MotoCorp has updated the Xtreme 160R 4V for the 2024 model year. Here are the details of the updated bike:
The 2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V is priced at Rs 1,38,500 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it Rs 2,000 more expensive than the previous model’s top-end Double Disc Premium variant. It is available with the Neon Shooting Star and Stealth Black options seen on the previous model and also gets a new colour option as well called Kevlar Brown.
The streetfighter rivals the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar N160, Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, and Yamaha FZ FI V4.
Instead of three variants available previously for the bike, the 2024 Xtreme 160R 4V is now available in a single variant. One of the two biggest changes is that it now gets dual-channel ABS, which has raised the safety quotient of the bike. That said, it’s primary rivals, the Apache and the Pulsar, already offered dual-channel ABS, and the Xtreme is getting it just now. The other one is that the split-seat setup has been replaced by a single-piece seat. This should make the pillion more comfortable, as the split seat was a bit difficult to climb on to, and wasn’t the most practical for commuting. The other changes include a new simpler looking tail section along with a redesigned tail lamp, a Drag Race Timer that lets you record your 0-60kmph and 0-402 metres acceleration times and a Panic Brake Alert feature, which flashes the tail light and the indicators under heavy braking.
Other than the changes mentioned above, the rest of the bike has remained unchanged. It is powered by the 163.2cc, single-cylinder, air-/oil-cooled, 4-valve engine producing 16.9PS and 14.6Nm. The suspension setup consists of a 37mm KYB inverted fork and a 7-step adjustable monoshock while braking duties are taken care of by a 276mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc brake (both petal units). It has a seat height of 795mm, ground clearance of 165mm, kerb weight of 145kg and a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres. In terms of features, it comes equipped with a negatively-lit LCD instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity for call and SMS alerts and turn-by-turn navigation through the Hero app.

The 2024 edition can prove to be both; a good and a challenging move from Hero MotoCorp. With being available in just a single variant, it has definitely made it easier for potential customers to make a purchasing decision. Instead of having to go through three variants with their different set of features and equipment list, customers can just choose from one model and decide if it’s the one for them.
On the other hand, the entry point of buying the bike has gone up by quite a bit. The previous model’s prices started from Rs 1,27,300 for the Double Disc variant. And the Bajaj Pulsar N160’s prices start from Rs 1,33,408 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V’s prices start from Rs 1,24,870 (all ex-showroom). So, Hero MotoCorp might lose out on customers who want a sporty 160cc bike but the Rs 5,000 - Rs 15,000 difference with the 160R 4V’s price tag is a bit too much for them.
