The 2025 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R and ZX-4RR have been launched in India, priced at Rs 8,79,000 and Rs 9,42,000 (ex-showroom), respectively. This means that the ZX-4R is now Rs 30,000 more expensive and the ZX-4RR is costlier by Rs 32,000 than the 2024 models.

What’s new?

Except for the price, everything from engine, features and underpinnings on the 2025 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R remains unchanged. However, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR now features a new triple-tone Lime Green / Ebony / Pearl Blizzard White colour scheme.

What’s unchanged?

Apart from the visual update and price change, both the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R and Ninja ZX-4RR remain the same as before. Both bikes are equipped with a BS6.2 compliant, 399cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine that makes 75PS at 14,500rpm and 37.6Nm at 12,500rpm on the ZX-4R.

On the Ninja ZX-4RR, the same engine makes 77PS at 14,500 and 39Nm at 13,000. Moreover, the addition of RAM air intake increases the ZX-4R’s power to 77PS and ZX-4RR’s output to 80PS. The 399cc engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch, as standard. The ZX-4RR also gets a bi-directional quickshifter.

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R and the ZX-4RR feature a 4.3-inch TFT instrument console which gets smartphone connectivity via the Rideology app. It gets four ride modes including, Sport, Road, Rain or Rider (personalised). The console also gets two display modes: Normal and Circuit. All LED lighting is also standard on both bikes.

The standard Ninja ZX-4R uses a 37mm inverted fork (120mm wheel travel) and a monoshock (112mm wheel travel). Whereas the Ninja ZX-4RR has a 37mm Show inverted fork and a Showa monoshock. Both bikes have the same braking setup, they have 290mm dual discs at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear. They have 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped with 120-section front and 160-section rear tyres.

Both bikes share the same frame and that results in a seat height of 800mm, a kerb weight of 189kg, and a ground clearance of 135mm. They also feature a 15-litre fuel tank capacity.

What are their Rivals?

The ZX-4R and ZX-4RR don’t have any direct rivals. The closest competitors to the Ninja ZX-4R are multi-cylinder sub-500cc supersports like the Kawasaki Ninja 500 and Aprilia RS 457. Alternatives in a similar price range include the Triumph Daytona 660 and Suzuki GSX-8R.
