The new family-oriented electric scooter gets a boxy design language and is aggressively priced

Ampere Nexus Launched 1

Ampere EV has launched its most premium offering till date, the Ampere Nexus. The family-oriented electric scooter is priced aggressively compared to its rivals and has a design language completely different from that of the other scooters in the EV maker’s lineup.

What Is Its Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

The Ampere Nexus has been launched in two variants: Nexus ST and Nexus EX with price tags of Rs 1,29,900 and Rs 1,19,900 respectively. Both the ST and EX variants also get introductory prices of Rs 1,19,900 and Rs 1,09,900 respectively (all prices ex-showroom including EMPS 2024, which stands for Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024). The time period for when the introductory prices will last has not been confirmed yet. It is available in 4 colour options: Zanskar, Aqua, Lunar White, Steel Grey and Indian Red. Bookings for the scooter are now open on the manufacturer’s website for a fee of Rs 9,999 and deliveries for the same will start by end of May 2024.

ZigSays

The Ampere Nexus is the latest addition to the long list of family-oriented scooters available in the two-wheeler market today. It also gets aggressive pricing that makes it quite appealing over its rivals. For reference, the introductory price tag of the EX variant is very similar (just Rs 99 more) to the introductory price tag of the Rizta S and only Rs 4,901 more than the Ola S1 Air. This makes the competitive family electric scooter segment even more exciting.

Also, what we really liked is the way Ampere has differentiated between the variants. The brand hasn't tinkered around with the range and even the lower variant gets the same range as the higher one. Instead, the EV maker has taken away the features from the base variant, something we think makes a lot of business sense. If a person wants all the features, he/she can pay extra for the fancier TFT console. If not, he/she will still get a scooter with the same range.
