With the recent rise in popularity in the adventure motorcycle segment, BMW Motorrad has a piece of the pie and to do so, they have unveiled the F 450 GS Concept. Even though the motorcycle is still in its concept form, it looks so close to the final product which we do hope to get soon! The motorcycle was first unveiled at the 2024 EICMA motorshow and we have it now in the flesh. 

Adventure Ready Design

The BMW F 450 GS has a very purpose built design which looks ready to tackle anything and everything in its path. The body design is inspired by the R 1300 GS which includes the high-mounted front beak, the LED headlight, the flowing tank design and the narrow tail section. The gold coloured front suspension, single-piece seat and the tubeless spoke wheels wrapped around with knobby dual-purpose tyres complete the adventurous look. 

A Potent Powerplant

The BMW F 450 GS will get a brand-new 450cc parallel-twin engine. The engine will most likely make 47PS, as this will be due to the A2 license norms in Europe which limits the engine power output to 47PS. 

Underpinnings

The BMW F 450 GS will get a brand-new chassis. A fully-adjustable gold-coloured fork and a monoshock make up the suspension. It gets disc brakes at both ends which are mounted on cross-spoked tubeless wheels wrapped around with dual-purpose knobby tyres. The front wheel size looks like it would be 19-inch while the rear being a 17-inch unit. This setup means the F 450 GS would be able to tour the distance and handle offroads as well. BMW Motorrad earlier claimed that the bike will have a kerb weight of 175kg.  Other premium equipment which we can notice is that of a brass-coated chain, knuckle guards and a tall flyscreen. 

Feature Rich

The BMW F 450GS will most likely get a 6.5-inch TFT display along with cornering ABS, riding modes and connectivity features. BMW Motorrad will leave no stone unturned when it comes to features and we do hope it gets adjustable suspension on the production motorcycle. 

Expected Launch, Price and Rivals

The BMW F 450 GS is expected to launch early next year as the concept motorcycle display at Auto Expo 2025 looks very close to its final avatar. Don’t expect the BMW to be pocket friendly as it would most likely command a price tag close to Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, this Bavarian powerhouse will go against the likes of the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure S, Hero XPulse 421 and the  Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 in India.
