Chakan-based manufacturer Bajaj has taken over Triumph's sales and servicing activities in India effective from April 1. This is all a part of the partnership that the two brands established back in 2020. The announcement also entails the co-development of multiple new mid-capacity Triumph bikes that’ll be produced by Bajaj at its Chakan factory.
The next two years will also see Triumph’s dealer network go from 15 cities (where it currently stands) to a massive 120 cities. With the influx of all these new, more affordable models, this step only makes sense. The companies will also be confirming the launch timeline of the upcoming Bajaj-Triumph bikes, later in the year. Expect the first model to be launched by the end of this year.

These things said, as was specified three years ago too, there’ll be no Bajaj motorcycles coming out of this partnership. That said, the brand will definitely benefit a lot by getting access to Triumph’s R&D. So while we might not see Bajaj-branded Triumph motorcycles, we could see more performance-oriented bikes from Bajaj in the years to come, based on the company’s learnings from the alliance. Triumph, on the other hand, will be able to price their mid-capacity motorcycles a lot more aggressively in India thanks to Bajaj’s cost-effective manufacturing prowess.
The immediate bike that’s in the pipeline for the two brands is the Triumph-Bajaj Roadster and the Scrambler. And the last time we managed to spot the former, our boy Manaal came back raving about the sheer performance this upcoming bike has on tap. So if Bajaj is able to price it well, which, according to us, should be around Rs 2.25 lakh (ex-showroom), don’t be surprised if it sells like hot cakes! It will also go a long way in helping Triumph garner a whole new wave of younger, budget-conscious riders. This will also give riders more choice in the fast-growing 300-400cc mid-capacity segment.
