Multiple teasers and leaked documents later, Honda has finally launched the Activa 6G H-Smart in India. As the name suggests, it is a smarter, safer variant of the best-selling scooter with a few other tricks up its sleeve.
With its prices starting from Rs 74,536, the Honda Activa H-Smart goes up against the TVS Jupiter and the upcoming tech-laden Hero Maestro Xoom 110.
The Activa 6G’s standard edition now retails for Rs 74,536, deluxe variant for Rs 77,036 and the alloy-wheeled H-Smart trim for Rs 80,537 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).

What’s the newest change is that the Activa 6G is now OBD-2 compliant, making it the first two-wheeler in the country to be so. The OBD-2 norms will need the vehicles to meet the actual emission norms in real time and not be limited to only tests in laboratories. The norms will kick in from April 1, 2023. The scooter was also the first to start complying with the BS6 norms, and now Honda has done the same with the OBD-2 regulations. The Activa 6G now also finally gets an alloy wheels’ variant.
The Honda Activa 6G now also boasts of a lot more features. Here’s a lowdown on the new bits:
Smart Find - If you’re within 10 metres of the scooter, all the four indicators will flash, letting you know the location of the vehicle.
Smart Unlock - If you’re within two metres of the scooter, you can lock and unlock its handle, and also unlock the fuel lid and seat
Smart Safe - You can turn on your scooter by being simply within two metres of the scooter. If the distance increases, the scooter locks itself automatically. But you can also disable this feature, by pressing the button for three seconds.
Smart Start - Turning the knob and pushing the start button is now all it’ll take to turn on the Activa 6G.
The scooter is now also available in six new colour schemes.
The Activa 6G’s 109.5cc engine has not been altered. It still makes 7.79PS and 8.79Nm. Underpinnings include a telescopic fork along with a monoshock. It rolls on a 12-inch wheel at the front. However, there are no alloy wheels or disc brakes on offer, so you still have to make do with steel wheels and drum brakes at both ends. Its simple, minimalistic design too is unchanged.
We wish Honda had given the Activa 6G disc brakes. The lack of a semi-digital console in today’s day and age also makes the scooter look rather dated.
The Activa 6G’s standard and deluxe trims, both now charge an extra Rs 1,177 than before, while the Smart Key trim with alloy wheels costs Rs 80,537 (ex-showroom Delhi), meaning it’s priced a solid Rs 6,001 over the standard variant. The premium isn’t a significant one, given that you get the extra tech, alloy wheels and an OBD-2-compliant engine.
While we’re at it, we think it’s high time Honda introduced the Activa 7G with a more modern instrument console, one that facilitates smartphone connectivity.
