The first half of July 2024 hasn't been very active, with just one new launch in the Indian market, the Mercedes-Benz EQA, hitting our shores at Rs 66 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the second half of July 2024 is expected to be quite bustling with a series of launches, including various models from global carmakers.
Here are all the upcoming car launches in India expected in the second half of July 2024:
Nissan is poised to reintroduce the X-Trail in India with its fourth-generation model. Last sold in 2014, the X-Trail will return via a completely built-up (CBU) route. Nissan has teased the X-Trail on its social media, highlighting its exterior, interior, and features such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver’s display, and panoramic sunroof. Globally, the X-Trail is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with either a mild- or strong-hybrid systemThe powertrain specifications for the India-spec X-Trail have not yet been revealed yet.
BMW's sub-brand, Mini, is set to launch the latest generation of its popular three-door hatchback, the Cooper S, in India on July 24. Bookings are already open, with prices set to be announced in the coming weeks.
The new-gen Cooper S features an evolutionary design with sleek elements, including a redesigned grille with round LED headlights. It is powered by a 204 PS/300 Nm 2-litre turbo-petrol engine and will come equipped with features such as a 9.4-inch round touchscreen infotainment unit, a heads-up display, and multi-colour ambient lighting. It will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, and the Audi Q3.
Mini has also scheduled the launch of the Countryman Electric on July 24. It will be the first all-electric Countryman in India. Mini is also expected to launch an ICE-powered version of the new-gen Countryman later. Like the Cooper S, it features an evolutionary design, and being an EV, it has a closed-off grille and aerodynamic-friendly alloy wheels with extensive body cladding for a rugged look. Its interior cabin layout resembles that of the new Cooper S, which gets a minimalist cabin with a single round 9.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The electric SUV comes with a 66.4 kWh battery pack for a WLTP-rated range of 462 km globally.
Along with the launches from Mini, BMW is also set to launch the 5 Series LWB in India on July 24. The eighth-generation sedan has already been officially revealed, and bookings are underway. It is also the first time the 5 Series is offered as a long wheelbase model on our shores to take on the popular Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which will get a generation update later this year. BMW is expected to offer the 5 Series LWB with two powertrain options, but initially only the petrol model will be on offer.
