French carmaker Citroen is prepping to globally unveil its three-row SUV that’ll go up against the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara. The all-new C3 Aircross SUV makes its global premiere tomorrow, on April 27. Ahead of that, we’ve tied together the clues and sparse official details to give you an overview of the C3 Aircross.
We’ve largely known the C3 Aircross from camouflaged test mules, but recently spy shots of an undisguised test mule have given us a look at some of the SUV’s design cues. At the front, the C3 Aircross features C3 hatchback-esque split headlights and DRLs, but other than that its front-end styling seems to be derived from the C5 Aircross SUV and exudes road presence.
The C3 Aircross will also get four split-spoke alloy wheels and plastic side and wheel arch cladding for a rugged aesthetic. Being a three-row SUV, it also features an elongated rear-end with long overhang and a flat tailgate to maximise space.
Inside, the C3 Aircross seems to get a familiar dashboard layout and interior design language as the C3 hatchback. The three-row SUV will offer seating for up to seven people, and the rear seat passengers will also get ceiling-mounted AC vents (with fan speed controls). Apart from that, the SUV gets a digital driver’s display with a tachometer.
A recent spy shot showing the third row suggests a little tight leg room.

The Citroen SUV will get features such as a proper digital driver’s display with a tachometer and roof-mounted rear AC vents. Other equipment that should be carried over from the C3 includes the 10.2-inch touchscreen with Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, and the rear wiper and defogger. On the safety front, the C3 Aircross should get multiple airbags, hill start assist, a reversing camera, stability control and rear parking sensors.
With official information awaited, the C3 Aircross is expected to get the 1.2-litre Puretech turbo-petrol engine from the C3 Turbo hatchback. This unit produces 110PS in the hatch, but should get a higher state of tune (likely around 130PS) in the SUV. It’ll be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, but an automatic transmission option should also be available.
The SUV’s launch timeline should be revealed at its unveiling tomorrow; we reckon it’ll go on sale sometime around mid-2023, priced from around Rs 9 lakh onwards (ex-showroom). The C3 Aircross will rival compact SUVs such as the aforementioned Creta and Grand Vitara, in addition to being an alternative to people movers such as the Kia Carens and Maruti XL6.
