Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP Launched In India

Ducati’s brought in their most expensive supermotard bike to India, and it costs a pretty penny!

Priced at Rs 19.05 lakh

Quick Highlights

  • Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP launched at Rs 19,05,350

  • Gets top-of-the-line suspension and wheels

  • Gets a special livery

Ducati has launched the Hypermotard 950 SP in India at Rs 19.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is about Rs 3 lakh more expensive than the Hypermotard 950 RVE. That’s quite a price jump!

For the money, it gets a fully adjustable 48mm Ohlins fork with 185mm wheel travel and a fully adjustable Ohlins shock absorber with 175mm wheel travel. That’s a wheel travel increase of 15mm at the front and 25mm at the rear, as compared to the RVE. The SP gets Marchesini forged rims with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres. All of that has helped drop the kerb weight (without fuel) by 2kg to 191kg.

But you win some and lose some. The increased suspension travel has resulted in an increased seat height of a whopping 890mm, as compared to the already tall seat height of 870mm on the RVE. That might just make the Hypermotard 950 SP, quite literally, inaccessible for many.

As with most Ducati bikes, this one too is packed to the gills with electronic aids: cornering ABS, slide by brake (allows you to slide in to corners), wheelie control, riding modes (Sport, Touring, and Urban), and a quickshifter (standard only on the SP). Its engine remains the same as the RVE – 937cc L-twin with magnesium head covers which makes 114PS and 96Nm, and is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.

The Hypermotard range is the only factory-built supermoto available in India, and doesn’t really have any rivals. That is until KTM India decides to bring in the big guns, which we hear, might be in the works.
